The Radboud university medical center is a leading academic centre with expertise in medical science and healthcare. The infrastructure offers an excellent environment for training and transfer of knowledge to recruited early-stage and experienced researchers. The Laboratory for Experimental Urology, the Department of Biomaterials, and the Department of Radiology all participate in the Nijmegen Centre for Molecular Life Sciences (NCMLS); which is a leading multidisciplinary research school within the domain of molecular mechanisms of disease and particularly in the fields of molecular medicine, cell biology and translational research. The research groups have access to state-of-the-art equipment and facilities, including animal research facilities with centralized small animal imaging facilities (µCT, animal MRI, animal PET/CT).

Research at Experimental Urology is focused on fundamental as well as applied aspects of soft tissue engineering (bladder, urethra) and oncology.

Research projects at the Department of Biomaterials focus on fundamental as well as applied aspects of biomaterials used to replace damaged or lost hard and soft body tissues.

The MR research group of the department of Radiology of RUNMC has exceptional expertise in high resolution MR imaging, and diffusion, perfusion and metabolic imaging.
